AI governance: framing without blocking

AI governance is the link almost nobody puts in place, and that is why projects stall at the POC stage. Not for lack of technology: for lack of a place where decisions are made, arbitrated and owned.

Organisations swing between two equally sterile extremes — the vague ban, which pushes 93 % of employees towards Shadow AI, and the free-for-all, which piles up uses nobody can audit. This cluster describes the workable path: a targeted data audit, a portfolio map, a risk grid that fits on one page, a committee that actually decides, and a champions network that carries the rules back down.

It also covers what governance must include and rarely does: explainability — an 89 % model nobody uses is worth nothing —, cybersecurity now that AI industrialises attacks, the technical debt generative AI accelerates, and the carbon cost that CSRD will soon make non-negotiable.
